Physical Landscape
Pigeon Cove is an historic fishing village in the town of Rockport on the tip of Cape Ann, on Boston’s North Shore. Much of Cape Ann is essentially an island separated from the mainland by a tidal river, with Gloucester, the oldest seaport in America (1623), occupying most of the island. Rockport and Gloucester are connected to the mainland by Route 128, often called America’s “Technology Highway” because of the many high-tech companies located on its path as it arcs around the city of Boston.
